When visiting Barcelona, remember that Antoni Gaudi’s magic lives here!

At the base of the Collserola, Sierra rests the Bellesguard Tower. Its name holds an important meaning to its history and the surrounding area. When translated from Catalan to English, it simply (yet accurately) means «Beautiful View».

The city proudly invites visitors to explore one of the rarest Barcelona attractions; its rich history tell fabled (yet true) tales about kings, gardens, and castles. Discover the historical events and figures that gave birth to the legend of the Bellesguard Tower, a beautiful site that offers a unique opportunity to learn about one of Gaudi’s architectural jewels. The building was home to Martí I el Humano, King of The Crown Of Aragon, who served as the last representative of Barcelona’s Casal, between 1408 and 1410.

Antoni Gaudi redesigned Bellesguard along the restored ruins of the medieval palace. His restorations preserved the castle’s exceptional appearance.  The construction ranged from 1900 to 1909 and resulted a majestic landscape of Barcelona’s valleys as a great place to relax.

The materials and dispositions in Bellesguard Tower:

True to its medieval style, the Bellesguard Tower is covered with stones and brinks. The classic stone walls and elegant gardens offer a beautiful contrast between the white exterior and luminous interior. It also includes a basement, ground floor featuring a living room and dining room, a noble plant with the rooms, and an attic with laundry. The luxurious rooms are adorned with gothic design elements and surprisingly nice views. The wall mosaics feature beautiful design techniques with exquisite detail.  The main door features a Cataluña’s shield and an iron inscription of the Ave Maria puríssima, sens pecat fou concebuda.

However, if you want to enjoy the true beauty of the Bellesguard Tower, you have to visit in the spring. The colorful gardens comprise a memorable experience that captivates visitors. The exquisite aromas of its flowers and the fresh breeze from the mountains offer a close connection with nature. The cypress, cedar, laurels, and mulberry will transport you to the medieval garden of the old castle. In the middle of the garden, you will find a stand with a dragon statue named “the protector Piton of the underground waters”. The combination of the building’s beautiful architecture and unique natural features are sure to relax any visitor.
