Visit Barcelona starting from the center!
Art and history have reserved a special date with you in the heart of Barcelona City: Plaça de Catalunya. This magnificent square was inaugurated in 1927 by King Alfonso Xll and it has become over the years in the most transited place every day for natives and foreigners, admiring the beauty and enjoying the infinite options it offers all around.
Plaça de Catalunya has 30000 square meters of surface, it is the limit that separates the old from modern Barcelona. Another interesting piece of data that is important to know as a tourist in Barcelona, is that it represents the departure point of important city avenues such as La Rambla, Passeig de Gracia, and Portal del Angel. In this last one, you can find a lot of stores next to the others (H&M, Bershka, Zara, Stradivarius among others) and it’s a nice walk though, there are people singing on the street and playing piano and else, which is one of Barcelona Attractions on the street.
The centric location allows easy access into Barcelona, becoming itself one of the most important transportation centers. There are the beginning of some bus lines to move towards other interesting places you choose in your schedule or you could take Barcelona’s Metro in the interchange Station under the square. Also the starting point of Las Ramblas.
If you are a walking lover, you must visit important places in Barcelona like the Boqueria Market (Located also in Las Ramblas), the Catalan Music Palace or the Liceu Theatre, which are near Plaça de Catalunya.
Within Plaça de Catalunya you will discover a majestic architectural world and will surely be delighted with the lovable sculptures, monuments, and modernist buildings surrounding it, amongst those you will find luxury hotels, banks, restaurants, bars, and the most important department store in Spain: El Corte Inglés.
