If you visit Barcelona you must know Antoni Gaudi´s magic is also here!
At the base of the Collserola, Sierra rises the Bellesguard Tower and you´ll wonder, what does its name mean? Well, the answer is pretty simple, the translation of the name from Catalan to English means «Beauty View».
A little bit of History…
The city opens its door to show you one of the rarest Barcelona seesights, but really worth visiting, with singular histories about kings, gardens, and castles such as the curious legend of the Bellesguard Tower, an attractive site that invites you to learn about one of Gaudi’s architectural jewels. The building was home of Martí I el Humano, King of The Crown Of Aragon, last representative of Barcelona´s Casal, between 1408 and 1410.
Antoni Gaudi redesigned Bellesguard alongside the restored ruins of the medieval palace keeping its elegant castle appearance. The construction was from 1900 to 1909, leaving a majestic landscape of Barcelona’s plain as a true experience to relax.
The Bellesguard Tower covered with stones and brinks, the medieval wall and the surprising gardens welcome you to discover a fabulous contrast of the exterior with the white and luminous interior. You will find a basement, a low plant with the living room and dining room, a noble plant with the rooms, and an attic with laundry. The luxury rooms adorned with a gothic design element will surprise you with nice views. The mosaic of the walls is a beautiful technique that is needed to be observed with detail. The main door has a Cataluña’s shield and an iron inscription of the Ave Maria puríssima, sens pecat fou concebuda.
But if you want to enjoy the true beauty of the Bellesguard Tower, you must come in the spring. The colorful gardens are a memorable experience that you will love. The exquisite perfume of its flowers and the fresh breeze from the mountains will allow you to live moments of pure contact with nature. The cypress, cedar, laurels, and mulberry will transport you to the medieval garden of the old castle. In the middle of the garden, you will see a stand with a dragon form named “the protector Piton of the underground waters”. The fusion of the building with nature will be a cozy experience for you.
